This painting was commissioned by a family member to create a lasting memory of the family beach house in Baldhead Island, coastal North Carolina. Though the house had sold, my family member's father, the original homeowner, had recently passed away, and the painting was intended as a gift for his widow. Though it was a difficult house to paint - there was little room to photograph it as it is situated in a coastal forest - it was a labor of love, and a joy to present to her.
